06/04 Scroungers
Scroungers finally restarted today. 8 members joined in the fun, including our new full member, Geoff Coughlan. Well done Allan Lewis and Ron Tonks, who won their respective games. Next Thursday we will reconvene at the earlier time of 2pm for 2.30 start.

Mapleton hosted its annual Fireman's Day. A lunch of pies and mushy peas was followed by some fun bowls. Thank you hto our volunteers for making this a great day.

28/02 Presidents Day
A fun afternoon of bowls for our rescheduled annual Presidents Day. Apologies to the winners, as the mens and womens presidents, Andrew and Heather, decided to go 'environmental' with plants as prizes instead of wine and chocolates. Congratulations to all the winners.

The annual visit from Lend Lease was once again well attended. Thanks to all the ladies who organised this great event. A great day was had by all.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, a decision has been made to postpone President's Day today and close the green. President's day will now take place next Tuesday 28th February.

16/02 Mens Singles Championship starts.
Tuesday saw the start of the Men's Singles championship games. This coincided with the return of the Ladies Social day. Congratulations to Miles and Martyn pictured with Men's President Andrew Friday.

15/02 Green re-opens
The club has re-opened the green for all play with Mixed Pairs. ...and what a day - the Sunshine Coast baked! However, a good day bowling was had by all.

07/02 Help Wanted...
In preparation for the public re opening of the green next Monday, the club is looking for volunteers to help mark out the green. If available, please be at the club for a 7am start this Sunday (12th). Depending on the number of volunteers it should take 2-3 hours..

07/02 Mens 4s
The club re-opened for today for competition games - Mens 4's. The game was competitive but friendly with the final score 19-18. Well done to Miles, Graeme, Jim and Philip. Round 2 will take place Thursday 9th from 12pm.

16/01 Junior Bowls
Club junior member Brayson will be playing along side Hugh Fleming from Palmwoods Bowls Club, in the under 18 pairs on the 16th and 17th Jan at the Queensland Junior State Championships in Bundaberg. we wish them both well.

11/12 Sunday Session's Xmas Party
Mapleton Bowls Club's last Sunday Session of the year was a fabulous Hawaiin theme party. Entertainment by local band Shaky Razor. Guests partied to the classics and sung along to 'House of the Rising Sun' and 'Sweet Caroline'. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

11/12 Christmas Lunch
The Men's section enjoyed their annual 'End of season Beer and Prawn' Christmas lunch. A serious volume of prawns was consumed by the men's section this year...

10/12 Plum Pudding Day
Plum Pudding Day - the traditional Last day of play for 2022. 48 members played two games. Prizes were drawn from a hat so even those on 'losing teams' received a Christmas pudding. Everyone enjoyed pizza after the game. The green is now closed until the new year.

09/12 Christmas Dinner
Friday evening was a time for Christmas cheer at the Mapleton Bowls Club. Guests enjoyed Christmas Dinner and were entertained by the Club Christmas Choir who sang a range of Christmas carols to the 'amusement' of the guests. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put on this great event.

20/11 Mapleton Day
The November 'Mapleton Day' was windy. Whilst the wind made the games challenging, a good days bowling was had. Thank you to all the bowlers, the helpers, the catering team and sponsors that helped make this a successful day.

15/11 Christmas Cake Day
Another day of competition at the Mapleton Bowls Club. This year, Christmas Cake day was a hot day. Congratulations to Pelican Waters and the runners up Kawana. Raffle winners took home Christmas cakes and a gingerbread house. Thank you to all the volunteers in the kitchen and the bar.

10/11 Community Grant
Mapleton Bowls Club was one of the 15 organisations in Nicklin who shared in over $518,000 from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund Queensland Super round. This fund is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program and distributes approximately $60 million each year to not-for-profit community groups.

01/11 Melbourne Cup
At the Melbourne Cup Lunch, members enjoyed a showcase of fashions. Thank you to Yvette for a lovely lunch. Entertainment included a sweepstake, “Guess the Number of Horses in the Jar”, a quiz and a picture puzzle. Thank you to the organisers and also to Wendy for these photos of some of our glamourous members.

A hot sunny day and 48 members and visitors enjoyed Jacaranda Day which is one of the clubs favourite annual days of the year. The day was sponsored by Lester Publishing. Congratulations to Lenny for who won best dressed for his 'original' outfit.

16/10 Flight Centre Day
36 members took part in a successful day of competition sponsored by Flight Centre Nambour. Winners: Nita Shoyer, Mark Paine and Martin Stevenson. Round 1: Heather Lewis, Alan Lewis and lester Schmidt. Round 2: Bev Ziesmer, Jeff Jordan and Steve Turon. Winnings were pressnted by Cameron and Steve Dickey from Nambour Flight Centre.

13/10 Scroungers
Thursday Scoungers is taking off. 12 players just beat the showers to get in 18 ends this Thursday afternoon. We welcomed Steve Turton, a new member, for his first competition game expertly guided by Miles and Heather. Other first time to scroungers were Pat Bethke, Janine, David and Alan Lewis.

Well done to our Ladies Four's who competed at the Headlands Pacific Bowls Fiesta. They were the 2nd Round winners.

06/10 Twin Waters
A group of bowlers from Mapleton travelled down the hill to play at Twin Waters (Living Choice Retirement) carrying on a 12 year tradition of reciprocal visits. A great afternoon was had of bowls, hospitality and friendship.

02/10 Junior Tournament
Congratulations to our juniors, Ava and Brayson, who competed in the Juniors, 2-day Indoor Tournament at the Paradise Point Bowls Club on the Gold coast. After some stiff competition on the Saturday, they managed to win 2 out of their 3 games on the Sunday, putting them in 3rd place in their division by the end of the day.

29/09 1st Scroungers
10 bowlers enjoyed an afternoon of bowling in the seasons first Scroungers event. Congratulation go to Michael C. who won a bottle of wine with 42 points. The next Scroungers event will be Thursday October 13th (2.00pm for a 2.30 start).

Our Club's Community Day was attended by several community organisations: PROBUS, Craft Club, Range Care, Mapleton Tennis Club, MADCA, Mapleton Choir, the Library, Zonta, Mapleton History, Mah-jong, the Lions Club, Sunshine Coast U3A and RangeCare . It was also an opportunity for the club to launch its 75th Anniversary Book which is available from the club for $5 (full members free).

Following the death of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, members gathered to watch the club's national flag lowered to half staff. A table of remembrance was set out in the club house. The national flag will be flown at half staff during the day for the period of national mourning.

Father's Day Sunday Session. Great to see so many Dads at this weeks Father's Day Special Sunday Session. Good to see new locals having a bowl for the first time. A good bowl followed live music - a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thanks go to Scott for organising another great event.

The club was host to visiting teams from New Zealand and Tasmania, as well as players from around the district. The day's winners were Peter Nixon and his team. A great day was had by everyone.

15/08 Qld Multi Disability Bowls
Mapleton Bowls Club member, Paul Carson, was in action for Day 1 of the QLD Multi Disability Championships at Chermside Bowls Club. He played 2-days pairs followed by 2-days playing singles.

12/08 Barefoot Bowling Bingay
The club played host to the effervescent Maxi Shield from Drag Race Down Under, who led Drag Bingo at the club. The morning started with a rather wet Barefoot Bowls. The attendees came from the range, Maroochydore, Brisbane and as far as Sydney for the event. After the social bowls, members and visitors enjoyed a larger than life bingo session with Maxi.

07/08 Under 18's Bowls Carnival
Two of our junior members, Ava and Brayson competed at the Junior Triples Carnival at Glass House Mountains Bowls Club, last month. They both made it into Division 2 on the second day and Ava's team came 3rd and Brayson's team came 2nd. Well done to both of them.

A great evening was had by guests attending the Christmas in July event with live music provided by John Veleso and a splendid Christmas buffet by Penfolds Catering. Thanks Lisa Brereton for organising this great event.

28/06 Junior Carnival
Congratulations to our Mapleton Juniors, Ava and Brayson. They competed in the Junior Carnival at Glasshouse. Starting in Division 2, Brayson's team came 2nd and Ava's came 3rd. They both played well and most of all, enjoyed themselves! Thank you to Debbie, Miles and Mark for all their coaching support. The entire club is cheering them on !

14/06 Ladies Fiesta
The club welcomed teams from Nambour, Waves Caloundra, Woombye, Kawana, Pacific Headlands, Mooloolaba, Pelican Waters, Maroochy and Toombul for the Ladies Fiesta. A big thankyou to our sponsors. Prize money from BCIB Insurance and Roger Loughnan Real Estate. Raffle prizes from Bowlers Paradise, Fruity Life, Flaxton Gardens, The Barn on Flaxton, The Garden Shed, Liz Williams and Eileen Lovelock. A great day was had by all.

28/05 District Champion of Club 4s
Mapleton were represented by Heather (lead) Penny (second), Nita (third) and Debbie (skip). While we went down by two to Headlands 17 - 15, it was a valiant effort by all and the club is proud of our team.
